Job Description:
THIS POST HAS AN ANNUAL PAY AWARD PENDING
At CrossReach, we believe that strong relationships change lives. As a Support Practitioner, you’ll be part of a caring team helping children and families feel safe, supported, and included—often for the first time.
Every day, you’ll:
1. Build trusting, nurturing relationships using the PACE approach (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy)
2. Work with families and professionals to support individual care plans
3. Create a safe, therapeutic environment where children feel they belong
4. Help develop life skills and promote inclusion in the wider community
5. Contribute to reports and assessments
This post will work from Rockwood House and will cover hours of work across Ayrshire, as required.
We’re looking for someone who’s compassionate, emotionally aware, and ready to make a difference—even when it’s tough.
To thrive in this role, it helps if you:
1. Are open to working towards SSSC registration and gaining an HNC Social Care and SVQ Level 3 (we’ll support you every step of the way)
2. Hold a full UK driving licence
3. Feel comfortable working within a Christian ethos and are happy to support this as part of your role
4. Are (or are willing to become) a member of the PVG Scheme
It would be wonderful if you also bring:
1. Some experience in care or education
2. An understanding of trauma-informed practice or attachment theory
3. A natural ability to connect with others and build strong, supportive relationships
In return, you’ll be part of a close-knit team with strong values, receive ongoing training, and know you’re doing work that truly matters.
Ready to bring hope and healing into a child’s life? We’d love to hear from you.
We also offer you a range of benefits that you would expect from an organisation that supports others, including:
1. Access to exclusive retail and leisure discounts through our rewards scheme and the Blue Light Discount card
2. A generous contributory pension plan and death in service benefit
3. Enhanced family-friendly policies
4. Access to our health cash plan for a wide range of health treatments
5. A care concierge service to assist you with life's challenges
We are committed to your training and development, including a contribution to your professional membership fees, and we support you in making the right steps to learn, grow, and develop in ways that are right for you.
CrossReach has been at the forefront of high-quality social care for over 150 years, providing loving care to people of all ages and supporting them to live life to the full whatever their circumstances. We are still growing, learning, and improving, thanks to the incredible people we have the privilege to support.
As we do our work in Christ’s name, you must be respectful of our Christian ethos and be able to work within it.
This post requires you to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks. You will also be required to be registered with SSSC and it is your professional responsibility to ensure that you meet the standards and criteria for registration.
We have a legal obligation to ensure that we do not employ any worker who has not been granted the relevant permission to work in the UK. This permission is without exception granted by UK Visas and Immigrations.
We are committed to ensuring that we attract, retain, and develop the very best people to build a diverse and talented team and we recognise that every individual’s unique background, experience and ability contributes to our success.
