What you’ll do
The purpose of the role is to provide key stakeholders with a clear technology leader who owns and is accountable for the deliverables of all Digital Consumer Shop projects and connected technology and business objectives and key results.
This role holds overall accountability for Consumer Shop Software Engineering practice and delivery of commerce Digital Channels in Vodafone UK, driving the UK strategy in line with the Digital and Connectivity Champion principles of being one global team.
1. You will assist in the assessment, understanding / shaping near & long-term commercial demand to drive technical new features.
2. You will collaborate with Solution Architects and Lead Engineers to shape and review HLDs / blueprints to ensure well designed solutions.
3. You will proactively drive the technical design, structure and direction of Shop engineering, engaging and encouraging the engineers to deliver LLDs aligned with HLD and strategic goals delivering timely, qualitative solutions for the business and our customers.
4. You will guide, invest in and help grow / scale our technology teams to achieve our FY demand roadmap, team goals and drive toward a common tech vision of re-use throughout VF Engineering regardless of channel.
5. You will establish and advocate use of technical best practices & standards.
6. You will be a key technical contact / SME for commercial products for product owners, business analysts, tech leads, solution architecture team and other relevant stakeholders from the business.
7. You will ensure best in class customer experience, superior performance, and high customer satisfaction.
8. Steer initiatives that provide opportunities to invest in the next generation of engineering talent with an eye on both individual and managerial tracks.
Who you are
* You will possess an in-depth E2E understanding of engineering technologies such as React, Java, Node JS, micro services architectures, RESTful APIs in cloud environments for delivering scalable high-performance applications.
* You will have a deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle including multiple delivery methodologies with the ability to mentor, motivate and shape high performing teams.
* You will have a good understanding of agile methodologies knowledge and hands-on experience, as Scrum and/or Kanban.
* You will demonstrate strong communication skills, and the ability to choose style, media & technique suitable to your audience.
* You will show an enthusiastic interest in modern development practice, tooling, technology and techniques.
* You will showcase a proven track record leading & motivating engineering teams with an in-depth understanding of the technologies, processes and architecture required for delivering high quality digital applications & services at scale.
* You will demonstrate a knowledge of at least one of the following major languages JavaScript (React, Node, Typescript) or Java in an application context along with associated design best practices.
* You have a passion for leading consistent best practices with a focus on both team engagement & health with seamless delivery of high quality services.
