Outdoor loving autistic eight year old boy who stays in North Berwick, looking for a fun, playful and physically fit personal assistant. The post will involve taking the boy out to different activities in the community including swimming, going to the park, walking and some short spurts of running. The personal assistant will be expected to not only support the young person but also participate in activities with him. The post also involves reminding the boy to go to the toilet and to help him with his hygiene afterwards.
Some experience of working with neurodiverse children would be advantageous. The child can exhibit challenging behaviour from time to time so experience of supporting a child when they need to regulate themselves would be desirable. It is essential that the post-holder be a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme or willing to join. The employer will cover this cost. A car driver would be preferable.
The post is for seven hours per week, consisting of one or two shifts. One of the shifts is likely to be on Friday afternoon and there could be a second shift on Saturday or Sunday. The shift pattern may be the same every week or could be flexible, dependent on both the employer and the post-holder. There may be the opportunity for some extra hours in the school holidays if this would suit the post-holder.
