Mgr, Tech Program Mgmt for Japan & Korea, APAC DC Planning & Delivery
AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and ensure our customers have continual access to innovation. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and are looking for talented individuals to join our diverse team.
As a Manager, you will lead a team of Technical Infrastructure Program Managers (TIPMs) to support data center infrastructure expansion. You will drive the development and adoption of strategies in the region, coordinate execution with local partner teams, and report progress and risks on all in-flight programs. Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders is essential.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Leading, hiring, and developing a team of Technical Infrastructure Program Managers (TIPMs).
2. Demonstrating tactical and strategic thinking to ensure data center delivery.
3. Developing and reviewing metrics to assess performance against targets.
4. Monitoring in-flight projects and major risks, ensuring delivery meets commitments.
5. Diving deep into capacity issues to identify risks and opportunities.
6. Identifying opportunities to simplify processes and implement scalable mechanisms.
7. Providing concise communication to a variety of stakeholders.
8. Managing metrics and tools to keep stakeholders informed of ongoing risks.
9. Identifying alternative solutions and aligning direction across the organization.
This position requires 10% domestic travel and 5% international travel.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
2. 8+ years of experience in core project management activities.
3. 5+ years of experience managing complex technology or physical infrastructure projects.
4. 3+ years of people management experience.
5. Business-level fluency in written and spoken English and Japanese.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bi-lingual in both English and Japanese.
2. Background in Data Center Infrastructure design, operations, or delivery.
3. Understanding of the Japan and/or Korea data center markets.
4. Experience with managing multiple project budgets.
5. Experience with analyzing and presenting data to various levels of seniority.
6. Deep understanding of project management methodologies.
7. Master’s degree in business or similar advanced professional degree.
