Ground Maintenance Engineer (Aerostructures) Mechanic

Job Title – Ground Maintenance Engineer (Aerostructures) Mechanic
The Ground Maintenance Engineer (Aerostructure) Mechanic will support the Assembly, Integration, and Testing of the PHASA 35 High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) solar powered UAV for flight both in the UK and overseas. In addition, they may be required to support customers in preparing their payloads for integration and external company liaison for associated work activities.
This role will require overseas deployment for 3 – 5 months of the year, for a minimum period of 6 weeks at a time.
Tasks and Accountabilities
As part of this role you will be responsible for undertaking activities such as:
* Support test flight trials inside and outside of UK, specifically preparing aerostructure for flight.
* Identify a problem, be able to communicate effectively to their supervisor and work as part of a team.
* Support Supervisors in the generation and conducting of qualification and acceptance testing.
* Contribute to work packages and present results to peers.
* Work as part of a team to ensure flight readiness.
* Provide input into design from a Ground maintenance perspective.
* Support quality and product assurance.
* Engage with customers and key stakeholders.
* Conduct secondary tasks in support of the flight to ensure operational effectiveness.
Required Skills
* Apprenticeship in mechanic engineering or comparable experience.
* A driven, self-motivated, committed individual with a passion for innovation.
* Ability to work flexibly as part of a team, with a positive and proactive attitude.
* Reliable in respect of quality and timeliness of deliverable items.
* Assembly Integration and Test experience.
* Careful and organised approach to tasks.
* Practical engineer with hands on interests outside of work.
* Experience in working with composites, specifically high quality, low mass components and composites assembly/production techniques.
* Experience in a hands-on multi-skilled practical airframe role.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and skilled in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
* Experience in overseas deployment.
* Knowledge and understanding of technologies relevant to Unmanned air systems (UAS).
* Solidworks experience would be advantageous.
* Demonstrated knowledge of production/maintenance processes to quality standards.
* Skilled composites laminator, specifically high quality, low mass components.
* Experienced in aircraft maintenance records, recording systems.
* In depth knowledge of aviation policy and standards of practice.
* Understanding of secondary tasks associated to maintaining airworthiness.
* High levels of engineering hygiene and discipline.
Principal Terms and Conditions
* Post – Permanent.
* Salary – to be agreed depending on experience.
* Pension – 10% contribution from the company included.
* Working time 37.5 hrs per week.
