We are looking for an enthusiastic team player to join the nurses team at Parkside Family Practice. We are a very friendly, 2 site practice in Berkshire. (Buckinghamshire Oxfordshire and Berkshire ICB). We have over 17,500 patients and need someone who is keen to take on an active Nurse role.
We are a training practice and high QoF achievers.
Main duties of the job
The applicant will need to be able to practice independently in accordance with all protocols and procedures and referring to a GP when needed.
Be up to date with all aspects of nursing including complex wound control, diabetes care, health promotion, cytology, childhood immunisations and all treatment room duties.
About us
We are a busy local practice based at two sites, one in Woodley and the other in Earley. We have five partners and five salaried GPs as well as a strong nursing team including HCAs, pharmacists, trainee GPs, and a reception and administration team.
We have regular meetings with a proactive manager as well as social functions in the year.
Job responsibilities
1. Practice independently in accordance with Parkside Family Practice policies, procedures, protocols and code of conduct. Appropriately referring to GPs when needed. Fully understanding and following Nurse PGDs.
2. Maintain accurate documentation of care and utilisation of I.T.
3. Ensure continuation of own personal and professional development facilitated by utilisation of clinical supervision networks.
4. Share responsibility for ensuring effective inter-Practice communication.
5. Ensure skills are appropriately and effectively used to deliver care.
6. Ensure care is delivered by Practice Nurse Team members with relevant and appropriate skills.
7. Ensure an effective Nurse Appointment system, in collaboration with Practice Manager.
8. Ensure that efficient and appropriate stock control is in place.
Person Specification
Experience
* It is essential to be a committed team player dedicated to patient care, always putting what is best for their ongoing welfare at the front of everything you do and able to work under pressure.
* Dealing with vulnerable patients with care and empathy and able to get along with other departments in the practice.
* Previous experience of NHS IT systems would be useful but training will be given.
Qualifications
* Up to date revalidation, knowledge of diabetic care, child immunisations, knowledge of injectable medication, complex wound care, dedicated to infection control and meeting CGC standards, cytology, up to date with QOF guidelines, travel vaccinations, safeguarding, full ability to undertake the 6 C's in nursing and always promoting health care.
* The applicant would have a Bachelor Degree in nursing, previous urgent PGN experience, knowledge of COPD care.
* Previous knowledge of Emis, Word, Excel, Docman is useful but training will be given on all IT systems.
