We require a student to support our Business Analyst and Developer as part of the National Student Mental Health Partnership Programme (NSMHPP) for a period of three months on a flexible, part-time basis.
The role holder will have business and/or data analysis experience, with a strong work ethic and an eye for detail. They should be able to handle complex information and translate it into clear outputs. Good communication skills are essential due to the collaborative nature of the work, which includes all Student Services Teams from Higher and Further Education providers.
The role is based within Student Life or Spark but will work across Wales, so a flexible approach to site visits and home working is anticipated.
The role will support programme workstreams to improve data within post-16 Education Providers to enhance understanding of student mental health in Wales.
The role will include working with a range of partners from student services, clinicians, and IT/data professionals with varied backgrounds and levels of expertise. The role holder must be personable, diligent, and a confident communicator with excellent organizational and networking skills to manage the varied demands of the role.

Key Duties:
1. Support the programme team by providing business/data analysis expertise to both internal and external customers.
2. Apply a wide range of business/data analysis tools and techniques to gather and analyze information.
3. Support system owners with the development and support of IT systems.
4. Analyze specific programme data and information, investigate processes or issues within the projects to contribute to reports.
5. Analyze and interpret information methodically, in detail, and accurately.
6. Contribute to the delivery and development of training content in the programme.
7. Undertake occasional administrative support duties as required.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Education:
- Degree/NVQ 4 in data science, mathematics, computing, or relevant discipline or studying for.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Experience of using business analysis techniques in a project or work environment.
- Knowledge or experience of working with complex, sensitive data and information.
Customer Service, Communication and Team Working:
- Ability to communicate conceptually detailed and complex information effectively, collaboratively, and professionally with a wide range of people.
- Evidence of ability to explore customers’ needs and adapt the service accordingly to ensure a quality service is delivered.
- Proven ability to develop networks to contribute to long-term developments.
Planning, Analysis and Problem Solving:
- Evidence of ability to solve expansive problems using initiative and creativity; identify and propose both practical and innovative solutions.
- Evidence of demonstrable knowledge of key advances within the specialist discipline.
- Evidence of ability to undertake and deliver specific projects and supervise short-term project teams.

Desirable Criteria (if appropriate):
- APMG Agile Business Analysis Foundation, or equivalent.
- BCS Business Analysis Practice and Requirements Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience of delivery of data improvement projects.
- Experience of working in a Higher Education or Further Education environment.
- Fluency in Welsh, written and oral.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
It is assumed this post will be based in Cardiff University, but regular visits to other partner sites are anticipated. The role may combine home working and visits to partner sites across Wales, therefore regular travel will be required.
