Salary £15 per hour; benefits include full use of the ceramics studio, equipment and clay
* Prepare the studio and classrooms for use by members and classes
* Give support as needed to members while they are using the studio
* Recycle clay and bag for reuse
* Load and unload kilns
* Wrap, monitor and glaze students’ and members’ work as needed
* Prepare and mix glazes, slips and underglazes
* Wash down surfaces, clean equipment and mop all floors and communal areas
* Wash, dry, fold and put away towels and aprons
* Work closely with the other technician to ensure smooth running of all systems
* Be proactive in supporting the growth of the studio, e.g. by encouraging students and members with their work, contributing to the development of new glazes
* Undertake additional duties from time to time, by mutual agreement
Skills and Experience Required
Required
* Experience in and good understanding of key ceramic processes including clay recycling, glaze making and firing
* Good communication and time management skills
* Enjoys working as part of a team
* Punctual and reliable
* Able to be flexible with days/hours worked (including some evenings and weekends)
