Main duties of the job We are looking for Consultant Anaesthetists for our Critical Care team. We have both a substantive permanent Consultant post and a Locum Consultant post on a 6 month fixed term available. This large department offers all major specialties and there are opportunities for you to undertake a wide variety of work. The elements required in particular are neuroanaesthesia, thoracic anaesthesia, orthopaedics, obstetric anaesthesia, ophthalmic anaesthesia and pre-assessment clinic. We are concerned for the wellbeing of our Consultants and attention is paid to work life balance in the detailed construction of job plans.Although we are a large department overall, we can offer a supportive environment for work. There is a culture of collaboration and cooperation within the Department. We are passionate about patient care and believe the best is achieved by well supported staff. We require the services of anaesthetists who can undertake daytime weekend work. This may be in general, obstetric, neuro or thoracic anaesthesia. However, we anticipate opportunities to join specialist on call rotas in the future. This will be your choice, subject to mutual agreement with the Care Group Lead and the needs of the Trust. We also cover surgical specialities at Lymington New Forest Hospital, and sessions are available there. A new elective orthopaedic hub is due to open in Winchester later. A wide range of anaesthetic skills are needed, therefore candidates with almost any skill set are welcome.
