About the role:
Support the development of defining pricing structures aligned with current market trends, building & updating pricing models. Prepare P & L’s for both domestic and international bespoke pricing requests. Support requests from the Director of Commercial for all elements involving yield management programmes. Work in collaboration with operations, finance and sales directly as and where required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and administer development of proposals and commercial/pricing programs to understand customer needs, determine appropriate pricing for the business and enhance competitive position of the business offerings.
* Prepare bespoke P & L’s for domestic and international pricing requests.
* Deliver competitive and consistent commercial/pricing proposals according to commercial/pricing policies and standards across customers, products, countries.
* Provide responses to commercial/pricing requests and assess performance of commercial/pricing requests.
* Execute tools, procedures and databases to systemize the commercial/pricing process, profitability analysis, benchmarking and price simulation.
* Support the process for price setting, analysis and review of commercial/pricing requests to achieve highest quality standards and internal controls.
* Conduct profitability analysis and data quality cleansing in accordance with policies and provide management reports.
* Understand and apply customer pricing process, tools and techniques and support testing activities.
* Make recommendations on commercial/pricing decisions and generate reports on commercial/pricing requests ensuring appropriate data maintenance and data quality.
* Document price proposals and communicate to relevant stakeholders according to standards.
* Collate information to understand competitive landscape and identify target market position.
* Identify trends and suggest enhancements that deliver higher quality and/or lower cost.
* Understand the contractual agreements in place with customers and support pricing reviews when necessary.
* Keep all pricing models (online and offline) up to date with cost changes and T&Cs updates.
* Collaborate with sales to understand market trends to build and update pricing models and to be able to support the development of set pricing structures – compare and track prices set by the competition.
* Support with yield management programmes - Trading to profile, Red / Yellow card, Bill it all and GPI.
* Keep central pricing policies up to date and review pricing requests requiring commercial review and approve, decline or delegate in line with pricing approval rules set by Commercial Director and Exec board.
* Contribute to defining commercial/pricing strategy including planning, key initiatives, systems, tools and budgets.
* Develop and implement commercial/pricing models, tools, systems and processes to ensure effective and value-driven pricing decision making and commercial/pricing management and efficient responses to commercial/pricing requests.
* Generate reports on commercial/pricing requests and ensure appropriate data maintenance and data quality.
* Be a subject matter expert in DHL eCommerce pricing tools and offer support and advice to the sales community.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Experience of working at corporate level as well as National.
* Experience in reporting at head of department level.
* Ideally has a background in solutions and services and experience in a similar position.
* Advanced Excel skills.
