Wirral University Teaching Hospital (WUTH) Urology Team currently has 9.5 WTE Urology consultants. The WUTH Urology Team has an exciting opportunity for a new consultant to join our team on a locum 2 year/24 month period.
We are looking for Robotic Urological Surgeons to work as part of the team and supplement sub specialty interests within the department. Interests in developing daycase robotic surgical treatments.

Main duties of the job
The principal duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients.
* To always comply with the GMC's guidance on 'Good Medical Practice' as amended or substituted from time to time.
* To ensure that patient confidentiality is always maintained.
* To undertake duties as defined within the attached job plan in so far as practicable and in agreement with the Clinical Director.
* To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director.
* On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust's corporate Induction.
* To participate in the Trust's Statutory & Mandatory training programme.
* To be responsible for the Clinical Management of all patients under your care.
* To work flexibly with colleagues to meet the needs of the service and achieve trust and national targets.

Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
* Ability to manage a full range of urological emergencies
* Ability to take full independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
* Expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of a full range of Urological disorders
* Thorough and detailed knowledge of medical audit, medical education, current clinical and medical best practice
* Understanding of the clinical governance process
* Competent in basic IT skills
* Clinical and sub-speciality education and training
* Awareness of health service reforms and issues across the healthcare economy
* Fellowship or additional post CCT experience is desirable
Qualifications/ Eligibility
* Full GMC registration
* FRCS(Urol) or equivalent
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register Via CCT or CESR (CP).
* Proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date must be within 6 months of interview
* CESR
* Further higher degree MD or PhD
Management and Administrative
* Ability to lead, communicate liaise and negotiate with others
* Willingness to support the efficient and smooth running of the specialist service
* Ability to motivate, innovate and support staff of all disciplines
* Ability to supervise, appraise, coach and mentor trainees and other doctors
* Ability to organise and manage outpatient priorities, surgical waiting lists and operating lists
Teaching and Training
* Commitment to continuing medical education
* Experience of supervising foundation year trainees or equivalent
* Ability to organise and participate in teaching and training of undergraduate and post graduate students
* Experience in demonstrating clinical procedures and techniques to other healthcare professionals
Research, Audit and Clinical Governance
* Ability to undertake complete Audit cycle
* Ability to undertake multidisciplinary audit
* Demonstrate experience in clinical research and ability to apply research outcomes to clinical and surgical problems
* Knowledge of Clinical governance issues
* Interest and awareness of research methodology
* Relevant publications in peer reviewed journals
Communication Skills and Abilities
* Demonstration of the Trust's values and behaviours
