We welcome people who identify as Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background, protected characteristics, and with all backgrounds and experiences., We are looking for a Mental Health Practitioner with expertise in assessment and development of robust pathways for people across all vulnerabilities, including substance misuse, Intellectual Difficulties, Neurodiversity, children, and young people who have contact with the criminal justice process through a Police Voluntary Interview / attendance.
This vulnerable cohort require the same level of service and support as is being provided for those detained in Police Custody for signposting and diversion options.

It is Trust policy that for posts that are for a time limited period, applicants who are currently employed by an NHS organisation will only be appointed on a secondment basis and should have approval from their line manager this is possible before applying. Applicants who are not employed by an NHS organisation, will receive a fixed term contract., To screen and offer a mental health and all vulnerability assessment people who attend a Police Voluntary Interview and identify a robust care pathway and provide advice to Police regarding any potential vulnerability identified.
Attend police custody suites and magistrates' courts and provide mental health assessments, advice and identify robust care pathways, for individuals where a potential mental health and or learning disability need has been identified.
To provide the police and court with written information pertaining to the individual in a timely fashion to inform disposal. To work closely and build links with all referring agencies within the Police, court and probation acting as a single point of contact for health.
To address the court in person when necessary in order to advise the court in the disposal, and care pathway of a particular case. To refer to the appropriate team within DHCFT community mental health teams. To make recommendation to Police, the Crown Prosecution Service or court, whether the criminal justice system remains involved ,or diversion is indicated.
To build a good working knowledge of the mental health act in relation to the police, courts and the criminal justice system. Where diversion is indicated, to facilitate mental health act assessments at the police station or court in conjunction with the DHCFT assessment teams.
