This is a level 1 unit with 8 designated special care cots, but with some degree of flexibility in providing intensive care and high dependency cots when needed.
We are looking for someone with experience as a Band 6 in Neonatal Unit LNU/NICU. The post holder will be responsible for providing effective care to special care, high dependency and intensive care neonates without direct supervision in any situation.
Responsibilities include:
1. Deputising in the absence of the Ward Manager.
2. Being in charge of the ward and supporting junior members of the team as well as student nurses.
3. Taking part in regular performance appraisals.
4. Demonstrating resilience to deliver specialist nursing care in stressful and emotionally demanding environments.

Job responsibilities
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Neonatal Staff Nurse to join our Special Care Baby Unit in Barnstaple. The role is to promote high standards of care and acts as a role model providing clinical leadership to the nursing and wider multidisciplinary team.
The post holder will also demonstrate continuing professional development that reflects individual needs, the needs of the team and the needs of the organisation.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, 07:30 - 20:00.
Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2024-5 rates, inclusive of a 5.5% pay award implemented from October 2024. If you join before this date, the pay award will be backdated to April 2024 or your start date, whichever is later.
