The following are the core responsibilities of the practice nurse. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels: a. To develop, implement and embed health promotion and well-being programmes b. To provide routine nursing care to patients as required in accordance with clinical based evidence. c. To provide dressings and wound care to patients d. To implement vaccination programmes for adults and children e. To administer vaccinations (Baby / Child / Adult) f. To provide travel medicine services (desirable) g. To undertake Cervical Cytology Screening h. Contraception and family planning (desirable) i.To chaperone patients where necessary J. To assist GPs with procedures when required K. To prioritise health issues and intervene appropriately L. To deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
