Job summary

We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a flexible approach who is forward thinking, committed and keen to drive forward high standards of nursing care, invest in the development of the team, improving the patient experience and be able to facilitate care that is safe and delivered with care and compassion.
Main duties of the job
The post has continuing responsibilities for:
1. Co-ordinating the activities of the ward/departmental team to ensure the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised holistic patient care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, to the standards set out in Essence of Care.
2. Encouraging an environment of empowerment through coaching, teaching and facilitating.
3. Managing the ward/department in the absence of the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse
4. Managing the bed/unit bleep and co-ordinating flow alongside the site team and surgical flow matron
5. Ensuring support for all staff on the orthopaedic unit on a night
