Department The Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CRD) at the University of York is recruiting a Research Support and Finance Administrator to support pre and post award functions and day to day finances within a small administrative team. CRD is an academic research department ( https://www.york.ac.uk/crd) that specialises in and is at the forefront of evidence synthesis and health technology assessment. Our systematic reviews and other evidence synthesis projects span a broad range of health and public health areas. They provide best evidence to inform policy and practice decisions and are underpinned by a programme of methodological development and commitment to knowledge exchange. Role You will support the Departmental Research Support Manager and work closely with another Research Support and Finance Administrator and be a first point of contact for research staff. You will be delivering a high-quality administrative service supporting research grant applications and the monitoring of our budgets in terms of income and expenditure. This will include providing financial support and advice on application procedures and eligibility criteria for research grants, coordination with collaborators and working with specific costing tools (e.g. worktribe). You will provide pre and post award support, liaising with other academic departments and professional service teams at the University and with external funders and collaborators and proactively coordinating processes. You will provide post-award support to the Principal Investigators, setting up budgets, proactively monitoring grant expenditure, staff charges and accurate forecasting. You will support the Departmental Research Support Manager in maintaining accurate data on research income that informs our forecasting and planning. You will support the day to day transactional finances of the department, including journal entries, processing and reviewing expenses, purchase orders and sales invoices. Skills, Experience & Qualification Needed Level 3 qualification. (Qualifications at this level include A levels. Please view the full list .) We also welcome applicants with equivalent non-UK qualifications or equivalent professional experience Good mathematics GCSE or equivalent and excellent numeracy skills Competent working with budgets and proven ability to provide advice on budgetary issues Experience of managing spreadsheets and producing financial summaries Ability to work independently, prioritise work and meet deadlines with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to work in a team and collaboratively with other teams Excellent skills and experience using digital technologies including excel, google applications and/or Microsoft Office Experience of ensuring compliance with policies and regulations Proactive approach to solving problems For this role you will be expected to attend campus at a minimum of at least one day per week. It is anticipated applicants will be appointed towards the lower end of the scale with annual increments afterwards.
