We are seeking a caring and dedicated Level 3 qualified Teaching Assistant to support students aged 5 to 13 with various special educational needs at a specialist school in Wakefield. This role is termt ime only, Monday to Friday on a long term potentially permanent for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with local and national learning strategies, such as literacy and numeracy, as directed by the teacher.
- Prepare and organise classroom resources and equipment as required, assisting students in using them effectively.
- Supervise students during non-lesson times, including before and after school and during lunch breaks.
- Provide assistance to students facing emotional, social, and behavioral challenges.
- Offer practical help for students' identified physical needs.
- Supervise and support students to ensure their safety and active participation in learning activities.
- Build positive relationships with students and their parents, encouraging open communication.
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the school community.
Requirements:
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students.
- A strong understanding of child development and the different types of special educational needs.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt and respond to the diverse needs of the school.
- Integrate the school's ethos into daily practices.
