Job Overview
If you want to join a friendly, growing, forward-thinking pharmacy team, we have a fantastic opportunity for a patient-orientated Pharmacy Technician to join our team and help provide a Medicines Management service to Community Hospital in-patient wards.
Medicines optimisation is at the heart of the service we provide in Oxfordshire's Community Hospitals. If you are registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and have experience in, or would like to try your hand in secondary care pharmacy, we would love to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
You'll work as an effective and proactive member of the Medicines Management Team, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care, in accordance with Government legislation and guidance, and local policies and procedures.
Duties Will Include:
* Complete a medicines reconciliation for all new admissions according to national standards, which will include accessing the Trust Electronic Health Record, contacting hospitals, GP surgeries, community pharmacies, and talking to service users/carers to compile a complete and accurate list of current medication.
* Conduct Controlled Drug reconciliation on a three-monthly basis and report results to Site Lead and ward/department managers.
* Be responsible for the maintenance of the Patients Own Drugs (PODs) scheme for designated wards according to Trust policy.
* Train nursing, medical, and pharmacy staff in the use of PODs.
* Supply non-stock items according to department procedures.
* Dispense short leave and discharge prescriptions on site, where appropriate.
* Work with clinical teams to review and update ward stock lists for designated wards.

Person specification
Qualifications:
* GPhc registered Medicines Management Technician.
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Pharmaceutical Services.
Desirable criteria:
* Advanced medicines management accreditation.
* Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician or willingness to work towards.
Skills:
* Competence in the use of Microsoft Office (i.e. spreadsheets, word processing, presentation software).
* Communicate openly, honestly, and professionally.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience:
* Previous experience of Hospital or Community Pharmacy.
Desirable criteria:
* Experience in hospital pharmacy.
Other:
* Ability to move between sites.
Desirable criteria:
* Driving licence.
