A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 21 year old man living in the Ferndale area. I enjoy going to the cinema, bowling, attending pub quizzes and would like to build up to going back to the gym or swimming again. I am currently undertaking a training course with Scope but this is due to end soon, I will then look to start volunteering at the arts factory
I have a diagnosis of autism and I am registered blind (visually impaired). I do have some vision and can use my phone and laptop. I can also understand braille but do not use this day to day.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The purpose of the job is to support me in accessing the community and ensuring my safety while out. But it will also entail some help domestically to support me to live independently.
HOURS OF WORK
I have 8 hours per week available and these will be worked in two 4 hour shifts.
Days are flexible but Monday and Friday seems likely at the moment.
RATES OF PAY
£14.70 per hour
TASKS CAN INCLUDE
Using public transport with me to access the community.
Going to Nantgarw with me to go to the cinema, bowling or the arcade.
Going swimming with me and providing me with encouragement and motivation to undertake this.
Potentially building up to going back to the gym. Again encouragement and motivation will be needed for this.
Maybe going to the pub quiz with me.
Going to Cardiff once in a while.
Helping me around the house with cooking and cleaning.
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
A patient person.
Someone who can be clear and direct when giving me information.
A friendly person willing to build a relationship with me.
Someone who can provide good encouragement and support.
A reliable and punctual person.
A person willing to use public transport with me.
Someone with an understanding of Autism.
ABOUT THE JOB
This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
