We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and result-driven Head of Business Sales to join our dynamic team and lead the growth of our B2B energy supplier sales. In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for driving the B2B growth strategy, collaborating with key teams such as Marketing and Propositions, and building a high-performing team. You’ll ensure your team has challenging targets while leading on and supporting them in developing outstanding relationships with customers.
You’ll be responsible for leading a team with a number of direct reports TBC, with the opportunity to grow the team as we expand and grow.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead B2B Growth: Implement, drive and develop the B2B growth plan, identifying opportunities to create lasting, value-added customer relationships that support our business goals. Work closely with Propositions and Marketing to develop customer-focused products, propositions, and communications.
* Set and Manage Targets: Establish clear targets across teams to ensure successful delivery of the strategy and sales plans. Manage sales pipelines, set margins, and define commission structures to drive team performance.
* Lead Complex Sales & Negotiations: Take charge of high-level sales opportunities, leading and supporting the team through complex contract negotiations.
* Build & Lead a High-Performing Team: Lead a team of 4 direct reports, developing and nurturing a highly engaged, high-performing team that drives growth while managing risk and compliance across our product offerings. As the business grows, you will have the opportunity to expand and develop your team further. Define the operating model necessary to deliver on growth objectives.
* Enhance Customer & Sales Processes: Continuously improve the sales and customer retention processes, ensuring a seamless experience for our clients.
* Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with the Services teams to offer business customers solar and battery solutions alongside 100% renewable energy.
* Risk Management: Ensure effective risk management when signing new business, collaborating with Trading and Pricing teams to mitigate risks.
* Optimise Customer Journey: Partner with Customer Operations leaders to streamline the customer journey from sales through to service, enhancing customer retention and minimising debt risks.
* Contract Compliance: Ensure all contracts are compliant with relevant regulations and business standards.
* Provide Insight & Support: Deliver accurate, timely information to the Senior Leadership Team and the wider business, offering technical expertise to support key decision-making.
* External Representation: Represent Good Energy at external customer meetings and events, helping to build relationships and promote our business.
What you'll need to succeed
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and results-driven Head of Sales who thrives in the B2B supply market and is passionate about winning new business across diverse sectors. As a sales leader, you’ll play a key role in helping businesses achieve their net zero goals, driving change in the energy sector.
You’ll be an excellent communicator, with a natural ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both customers and colleagues. You’ll excel in collaborating with other teams, demonstrating strong teamwork and communication skills. Additionally, you'll be adept at keeping the Senior Leadership Team informed and updated when necessary.
A quick learner who is self-motivated, you’ll bring a collaborative approach to working with others, while always keeping the customer at the heart of everything you do. With a deep passion for sales, you’ll be dedicated to championing outstanding customer service and leading your team to success.
In this role, you'll take ownership of developing and executing sales strategies, while managing a high-performing team that you’ll mentor and support to achieve their potential. Your experience and confidence in analysing business opportunities, assessing risks, and making sound decisions will drive results and growth across the business.
Essential:
* Proven track record in leading and developing a high-performance B2B sales team within the energy industry, including evidence of exceeding sales targets.
* Experience in independently developing sales strategies and plans based on sound analysis.
* Proven ability to identify and develop new business opportunities and customer relationships.
* Deep understanding of the energy industry, including knowledge of the electricity cost stack and industry policy.
* Clear and credible communicator, capable of influencing at any level and building trust-based relationships.
* Proven negotiation and influencing skills to deliver commercially astute sales/retention results or business partnerships.
* Experience in negotiating contract terms.
* Valid UK driver’s license.
Desirable:
* Current knowledge of competitor positions in the UK market, as well as new entrants and potential threats.
* Experience in disruptive product launches.
