Birmingham City Council is seeking a dedicated Business Support Officer to join our Digital and Customer Services Directorate. In this role, you will provide efficient, effective, and responsive administrative support services that meet the needs of the business and support its effective response to change. As a Business Support Officer, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including financial administration, supporting staff with business applications, and maintaining confidentiality in all areas. You will act as an initial escalation point for unusual situations, provide support for meetings, and ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act principles. Your role will also involve placing orders, administering payments, and monitoring expenditure with the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency. We are looking for candidates with administrative experience in a demanding, customer-focused environment. You should have comprehensive IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience in maintaining office systems, providing basic IT support, and working in a diverse team environment is essential. Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies, such as the Data Protection Act and Health and Safety regulations, is also required. In this role, you will need excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, and the ability to work accurately with data and written communications. You should be able to work on your own initiative, plan to achieve business objectives, and prioritise tasks effectively. The ability to support all aspects of meetings, including minute-taking and administrative support, is crucial.
