To work as a key member of the department’s security & safety team, to provide expertise and effective coordination of site security, asset protection, and hazard avoidance services.
To work closely with the site Security Manager & Senior Estates Officer to provide an effective management and delivery of the site security services, within agreed guidelines and objectives, delivered to Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. Provide a safe secure environment for patient’s relatives and staff
· Maintaining a highly visible deterrent by patrolling of hospital site on foot. In doing this checking all property and land associated with the Trust & CHS is secure and free of hazard.
· Identify and report any Incidents, hazards, damage, or suspicious activity.
· Respond to any security/fire related incidents on CHFT & Community sites.
· Respond to Intruder incidents as appropriate ensuring that a detailed incident report is made out.
· Calls for assistance from Ward/Department staff to deal with such duties as locked areas, missing patients, problems with patients/visitors and incidents of violence and aggression.
· Use of appropriate restraint techniques if/when trained to do so.
· Acting on all emergency calls, immediately.
· Responding to Alarm activations ensuring that alarms are dealt with in accordance with written protocols and procedures and any faults reported as necessary.
· Respond to and escalate reports of losses, theft, damage and as required.
· Attending Fire alert calls, report any faults to Estates helpdesk.
· Respond to calls of direction from the control room operators.
· Monitor the access control systems, paying particular attention to break glass notifications, doors left open, faults and temporary interruptions to service and override the access control system as and when required for example to let an authorised person/contractor.

Communication and Relationship Skills
• Receive and review information and escalate where appropriate.
• Maintain close liaison with departmental heads on practical aspects of security precautions and to the unit security officer.
• Communication both written and verbal, to all levels of staff relating to the provision ofestates services.
• Advise, remind, and encourage staff members to develop an interest in crime prevention and protection of personal, patients and Trust property.
• Keeping a record of all duties carried out each shift in a personal log as well as entering in the office log.
• Issuing and recording of access control ID cards and issue of secure keys.
• Complete incident reports as requested by theSenior Estates Officer/Security Manager
• Support the Equality & Diversity Agenda within the Directorate.
• To participate in contingency plans on emergencies in the regulation, control and supervision of traffic as laid down in the major incident manual.

Knowledge, Training and Experience
• Hold or willing to work towards SIA licenses for Security Guarding & Public Space CCTV
• Undertake such training as required to fulfill the responsibilities of the post as agreed with theSenior Estates Officer/Security Manager

• Pass all relevant information to the appropriate departments as directed.
• Comply with GDPR guidelines.
• Recognise and act accordingly and with empathy where the cognitive impairment of an individual affects their behaviour in a healthcare setting.
Responsibility for Patient Care
• Ensuring that all Security & Estates Services issues, are responded to in an effective and timely manner to support and enhance patient experience and care.
• Give clear information to patients and visitors when asked or during incidental contact.
Responsibilities for Financial and Physical Resources
• Ensure all estates services are delivered in accordance with Trust guidelines.
• Identify and action any poor practice which may result in financial loss to the Trust & CHS and report such to theSenior Estates Officer/Security Manager
Responsibilities for Human Resources
• Assist with staff training for Security Personnel.
• Working closely with the Senior Estates Officer/Security Manager to assist with short term cover plans.
• Undertake all such reasonable other duties as may be required as part of the role.
