About the Role
Leicestershire Youth and Justice is a vibrant, experienced, multi-cultural team from a range of professional backgrounds on a journey towards excellence, that helps to promote a range of innovative approaches to working with children. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking practitioner, to work within our Youth and Justice Service as a Project Responsive Youth Worker .
We are a Service of around 100 workers, committed to achieving the best outcomes for our children and young people through advocacy and empowerment. We deliver services with the young person at the centre and ensure that their voices are integral to all that we do. We develop our services with our young people, and we are part of the Children and Families Department at Leicestershire County Council, rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted.
As a Project Responsive Youth Worker, you will have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with some of our most challenging and hard to reach children who currently engage in offending behaviour, to help them develop skills and knowledge and be part of their journey in making changes towards a positive and fulfilling future.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to create and deliver interventions on a one to one and group basis using a holistic approach to bring about change and develop resilience

About You
To apply for this post, you must:
1. NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) plus significant relevant experience
2. Significant experience of working with children, young people and families in either case or group work situations
3. Able to engage with people from a variety of backgrounds, in particular those children and families that are hard to reach and an understanding of neurological development and an awareness of differing needs of children
4. Knowledge of relevant behavioural change practice to bring about change in ASB and offending behaviour
5. Understanding of the impact of crime and responding to needs / protection of victims
6. Experience of working in a multi-agency setting and partnership working with a range of agencies and organisations, statutory and non-statutory
7. Understanding of risk and protective factors including the principles of effective practice in relation to factors that help children desist from offending
