We are looking for a talented Band 8a Principal Pharmacist for Cancer Services to join our well-established cancer Pharmacy team.

What Awaits You:
As a key player, you'll join a specialised team providing clinical and pharmaceutical support to our Haematology and Oncology units, contributing significantly to the overall mission of our Pharmacy Cancer Service.
What You'll do:
Partnering with Specialist Pharmacist for Cancer Services, you'll spearhead the management of all medication needs for our Oncology and Haematology patients. Your responsibilities include delivering ward-based clinical pharmacy services supporting the cancer centre pharmacy and seizing the opportunities to mentor junior staff. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to dive into quality improvement, lead audit initiatives and champion medicines optimization and safety.
The Principal Pharmacist for Cancer provides specialist Pharmacist expertise into the care of patients being treated for Cancer. They provide an expert resource to both patients and staff ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines across the Cancer service.

Clinical practice role:
• To practice in compliance with the General Pharmaceutical Council code of professional conduct within scope of practice, being responsible and accountable for own decisions, actions and omissions.
• Todemonstrate a critical understanding of broadened level of responsibility and autonomy and within the limits of own competence and professional scope of practice, including when working with complexity, risk, uncertainty and incomplete information.
Leadership and management:
• Topro-actively initiate and develop effective relationships, fostering clarity of roles within teams, to encourage productive working.
• To role model the values of MKUH and demonstrate a patient-centred approach to service delivery and development.
Education:
• Tocritically assess and address own learning needs, negotiating a personal development plan that reflects the breadth of on-going professional development across the four pillars of advanced clinical practice.
• Toengage in self-directed learning, critically reflecting to maximise clinical skills and knowledge, as well as own potential to lead and develop both care and services.
Research:
• Tocritically engage in research activity, adhering to good research practice guidance, so that evidence-based strategies are developed and applied to enhance quality, safety, productivity and value for money.
• Toevaluate and audit own and others’ clinical practice, selecting and applying valid, reliable methods, then acting on the findings.
Oncology & Haematology Directorate Service:
• Tolead in a specialist area of pharmacy practice within the directorate in accordance with priorities set by the Pharmacy Manager – Cancer & Clinical Trials and the Clinical Director for Pharmacy.
• Toclinically screen all chemotherapy prescriptions (including oral, injectable and clinical trial drugs) according to national standards, following a period of competency-based training and assessment.

• Tobe professionally accountable for actions and advice given to others
