Buxton Nursery Ltd are looking to employ a happy, smiley and hardworking individual who is committed and passionate about supporting and supervising babies and children during mealtimes. Skills required include; excellent communication skills, working as part of a team, having good use of initiative, being emphatic and understanding and being able to complete a sequence of tasks within a specific time frame. Experience of working with children is desired but not essential as training, mentoring and support will be provided. The suitable candidate will need to complete a variety of training relevant to the post including first aid, food hygiene and safeguarding to name a few. The suitable candidate will require an enhanced DBS check. POST OBJECTIVE: To assist the nursery staff with the care and supervision of the nursery children over the lunchtime period
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (between the hours of 11:45am - 13:15pm Monday to Friday).
1. To help clear up after the morning session and set tables and chairs etc for afternoon session.
2. To help serve and prepare lunches
3. To encourage the children positively to try their food
4. To assist the children to clear up whilst encouraging their self help skills, especially in pre-school
5. To clear up after lunchtime sweeping floors, spot mopping dirty floor areas, cleaning and wiping tables, clearing/washing pots and crockery, emptying and cleaning bins, kitchen surfaces, sinks etc
6. To read simple stories to the children and supervise them appropriately until the end of lunchtime, when the nursery staff return
7. Re-set tables and set out activities ready for the afternoon session
8. To undertake any reasonable duty within the nursery setting in accordance with the level of responsibility of the job. Working in a nursery there are many varied duties to perform which we all undertake to ensure the smooth running of the nursery. If you have time left to work and have finished your normal jobs you may be asked to perform another nursery duty.
9. To maintain confidentiality at all times in relation to all aspects of care of the children both inside and outside the nursery.
