Logistics Coordinator - Aberdeen
The Role
The Logistics Coordinator is expected to manage and drive all aspects of logistics activities, including efficient and accurate control of imports and exports and ensure customs compliance in respect of specific country legislation. Working closely with Sales & Delivery, the LC is responsible for ensuring the company Scheduler is maintained accurately with project updates, identifying any potential clashes in the asset fleet and raising observations to the management team.
Responsibilities
* Manage the equipment scheduler to ensure it accurately reflects all asset allocations to projects.
* Execute logistics plans to move equipment and spares packages to reach destinations on schedule.
* Understand the company’s equipment spread configurations for onward transportation and develop load plans for breakbulk, out-of-gauge and oversized cargo shipments, creating shipping documents including dangerous goods certificates in collaboration with the asset team to improve efficiency.
* Negotiate favourable rates and framework agreements with crane providers, hauliers, vessel brokers and freight forwarders.
* Focal point for all equipment movements, quayside services and yard crane hires, raise and issue PO’s and arrange police/inland transport notifications as required.
* Manage quayside logistics scopes at mob and demob ports ensuring a safe and secure handling of cargo and focus on cost optimisation within budgets.
* Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to allow for logistics planning, continuously updating equipment schedules as project demands evolve.
* Create and maintain Import / Export Registers in SharePoint system for audit files.
* Actively participate in periodic HMRC audits and external ISO audits.
* Recommend optimal transport modes, routes, or frequency and plan space consolidation on flatbed trailers, heavy haulage and abnormal loads, platforms, flat racks, and open top containers.
* Ensure timely customs clearance of cargo for all Export and Import shipments.
* Understand all the elements of the import and export customs regulations and correctly interpret this information to fulfil stakeholder expectations.
* Assist with verification of customs declaration information and the submission of such to the customs authority to address any issues/questions arising during the clearing process.
* Develop a generic equipment shipping cost book for bid accuracy.
* Provide logistics data to management to drive cost accuracy improvements.
* Deliver solutions to logistics problems while maintaining high levels of quality and service within budgetary requirements.
Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
* Significant experience with freight/customs or equivalent combination of education and experience. CILT qualification preferred.
* Experience of international customs legislation, especially with regards to classification and compliance.
* Good understanding of incoterms.
* Extensive knowledge of shipping and charter party contract terms.
* Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Knowledge of road, air, and sea freight shipping documentation including Incoterms and HS Codes.
* Project experience in moving heavy cargo and out-of-gauge sea freight shipments preferred.
* Competent in all Microsoft packages including Teams, Excel, SharePoint.
* Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP).

Salary - £35-45K (potential flex)
