POST TITLE: Social Care Officer – May 2024
Qualifications: First Aid Cert., Food Hygiene, Moving and Handling training, SVQ ll, all preferred but not essential as training given.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Manager/Deputy Manager Kirriemuir Day Care
POST PURPOSE: You will work as part of a team to support and enable adults, including people with complex needs, to live ordinary lives. You will be required to support individuals with personal care, eating and drinking if required, and household duties. This post would suit a student or someone wishing to return to work as it is mainly evenings and weekends.
Outline of Duties
1. Contribute to the implementation of care or support plan activities by carrying out specific activities, providing feedback, and contributing to reviews.
2. Provide social care for the individual, including personal care tasks, home support, and supporting individuals who are distressed.
3. Participate in group work, including therapeutic and recreational activities.
4. Assist service users to maintain social contact, participate in local communities, and make use of available services and information.
5. Support service users and their carers at times of loss, personal trauma, and crisis.
6. Support carers to continue in the caring role as contributors to the care plan.
7. Observe the health and wellbeing of individuals with specific health conditions and record and report any changes.
8. Keep self and individuals safe and secure, promote safe working practices, and take action to deal with emergencies.
9. Ensure you understand adult and child protection and what you must do in cases of actual or potential harm or abuse.
10. Effectively communicate with the individuals you are supporting.
11. Promote equality for all individuals by ensuring that their individuality, confidentiality, privacy, choice, and rights are always respected. Uphold the right of individuals, including the right to be in control of their lives.
12. Develop practice including reflecting on your current skills and knowledge in the workplace, taking opportunities to improve your practice and applying learning in accordance with your role.
13. Comply with all data protection law in the processing of personal and special categories of personal data, in line with our policies and procedures.
This list is not exhaustive, and the post holder may be required to undertake other duties as requested by Manager/Deputy Manager.
