Are you passionate about the environment? We have an exciting opportunity to join our wastewater team as our Production Operator.
This role offers full training to support the successful candidate in completing the various technical aspects of this position. We’re seeking someone with transferable skills to develop into this role.
We understand the importance of professional development and offer opportunities for training and growth within the organisation.
Daily responsibilities include sampling and analysing water to ensure it meets treatment standards, identifying equipment issues, and performing routine checks on assets.
As part of a team, you will operate and control wastewater treatment works and pumping stations across the Wear Coastal. You will perform routine tasks to ensure our wastewater assets operate correctly.
You will use data from company systems to identify performance trends and, when issues arise, undertake fault-finding investigations with support from the wider team.
Additionally, you will collaborate and communicate with various teams to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and protect the environment.
About you
Excellent communication skills are essential in this role, both verbal and written. You should be a good problem-solver, able to respond quickly to issues, understand problems, and identify the best solutions.
We are looking for a team player who is adaptable to varied workloads and comfortable working alone with minimal supervision. You should be proactive and willing to suggest improvements.
If you have good attention to detail, we would like to hear from you. Monitoring assets involves visual checks on-site, computer systems, and lab analysis, so the ability to follow processes and procedures is required. You should be computer literate and willing to use new applications.
We’re committed to ensuring “Everyone Home Safe Everyday,” therefore awareness of health and safety is beneficial. You will use company safety devices to ensure you have the necessary support and controls.
The role involves pumps and process equipment, so any prior experience with equipment is advantageous, though not essential as training will be provided.
The water industry is continually changing, so you need to be adaptable to meet business needs.
If you are practical, pragmatic, and enjoy hands-on problem-solving, this could be a great role for you. Please note, a valid UK manual driving licence is essential.
