The Opportunity
Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for operational excellence? We’re looking for a Business Operations Support (BOS) Manager to lead a small but high-impact team, driving exceptional administrative, operational, and customer service support for our Project Managers and Operations Managers.
In this pivotal role within our Operations Directorate, you will take ownership of our BOS functions, ensuring they are robust, efficient, and future-proof, with no single points of failure—whether in systems or personnel. You’ll be responsible for the competency and development of your team, fostering a high-performing culture that delivers real value to the business.
Beyond leadership, you’ll play a key role in delivering insights—producing comprehensive monthly management reports and key performance indicators that help shape strategic decisions at the highest levels, including the Director of Operations and the Board.
If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy streamlining processes, and are passionate about developing people, this is your chance to make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities
1. People & Team Management: As the BOS Manager, you will lead and develop the Business Operations Support team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and support to succeed. You will provide direct line management, guiding team members through their personal development plans in alignment with role competencies. To strengthen succession planning and business continuity, you will ensure all BOS team members are cross-trained in secondary business administration roles. Additionally, you will oversee and manage the BOS cost centre, ensuring financial accountability. A key responsibility will be driving accountability within the BOS team for the timely processing of legal contracts and documents, supporting the Legal Team and Operational Managers.
2. Operations & Administration: You will oversee the day-to-day administration of BOS tasks, ensuring alignment with the Operational Table of Accountabilities. Your role will involve implementing and refining new processes and procedures while collaborating with various departments to enhance operational efficiency. As the owner of data integrity across company systems, databases, and trackers, you will ensure they function accurately and seamlessly within the wider business. Acting as a "super user" for key business-critical systems, you will provide expertise and support across the Operations Directorate. Additionally, you will take responsibility for ensuring compliance with regulatory metering and faster switching requirements, guaranteeing that all Guaranteed Standards and Licence conditions are met.
3. Stakeholder & Customer Engagement: You will act as the primary escalation point for customer issues, working closely with internal teams to ensure prompt resolution. Engaging with clients, contractors, and suppliers, you will maintain strong working relationships to facilitate smooth operations. You will also be responsible for managing Leep’s subcontracted out-of-hours call centre and Lone Working service, ensuring their effective delivery. Additionally, you will oversee the subcontracted Streetworks service, liaising with Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) and Self-Lay Providers (SLPs) to ensure all payments and licenses are correctly processed and administered.
4. Financial & Legal Administration: You will be responsible for ensuring that invoices and purchase orders are raised promptly and accurately, supporting financial efficiency. In collaboration with the Legal Team and Scheme Managers, you will oversee the progression and distribution of legal contracts, ensuring all documentation is managed effectively.
5. Reporting & Governance: A key aspect of the role will be contributing to the development and administration of department goals, objectives, and best practices. You will be responsible for preparing the draft Monthly Business Board and KPI Reports for the Operations Directorate, providing key insights that support strategic decision-making. Additionally, you will support the Operations Director in organizing, coordinating, and documenting Monthly and Quarterly Operations Leadership Team meetings.
About You
1. You lead from the front: You are a natural leader with a strong background in team management and business administration. With demonstrable experience leading a busy administration support team or at least five years in a business administration role, you can confidently set objectives, manage performance, and actively coach and develop your team. A true team player, you thrive under pressure and know how to keep others motivated, ensuring high performance even in demanding situations.
2. You’re on top of everything: Highly organised and analytical, you excel at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Your ability to adapt to shifting deadlines and conflicting demands ensures smooth operations and consistent results. With excellent numerical and problem-solving skills, you take a structured approach to challenges, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in everything you do.
