Job summary In November 2023 the department opened its new £5m Endoscopy Centre with a dedicated training facility. The department boasts the opportunity to work in different areas of the service, allowing you to gain experience and knowledge within inpatient and outpatient environment whilst caring for patients. As well as a range of different aspects to roles, the department also has clear progression opportunities for those looking to expand their knowledge and skills beyond their current role. The department has a dedicated training facility, and runs courses for delegates from across the country, staff are encouraged to take part on these courses as well If you're new to Endoscopy we offer a supportive introductory package including a supernumerary induction period working alongside experienced mentors and Practice Educators. Main duties of the job Undertake nursing care of designated named patients from admission to discharge. Participate in the care, maintenance and use of endoscopes used in endoscopic and non-endoscopic procedures, providing technical assistance during procedures Ensure provision of a high standard of nursing care to patients attending the Endoscopy Unit and out-patient clinics, working within agreed policies and procedures Ensure individual assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care from admission to discharge or transfer, producing documented evidence of this in agreed format. Correct documentation of patient care using the endoscopy unit care pathway including written discharge and aftercare information for patients. Liaise and communicate effectively with relatives, carers and visitors. Liaise and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, other hospital departments and outside agencies (e.g ambulance service, social services, transport etc.) providing patient centred care. Engage with student nurses and observers giving encouragement, support and guidance.
