Podiatric Registrar overseeing the diabetic foot - 37.5 Hours per week
This role is within the department of Trauma & Orthopaedics at GWH. The appointed candidate(s) will join an existing team of seventeen consultant orthopaedic medical staff. On joining the department, you will become part of a well-established, friendly team and will help us continue to drive forward improvements in the service that we provide to our patients.
The Trust is a recognised Trauma Unit and is part of 2 Trauma Networks (Severn & Thames Valley) and enjoys excellent working relations with both MTC's. GWH also is part of, and contributes to, the regional spinal on-call for Thames Valley. The department is a fairly sub-specialised group as detailed below.
This role will co-ordinate and specialise in surgical interventions for high risk diabetic foot patients. The role will play a pivotal part in communication between diabetic teams and Orthopaedics, by holding an on call bleep five days a week (08.30-17.00) to answer new foot attack referrals from the diabetic team for patients requiring surgical review and input. The role will also undertake podiatric elective clinics and elective operating within scope of practice agreed.

This role is primarily an 8B registrar role with intention to progress to an 8C podiatric surgeon role.
