Key Experience and Qualifications:
Essential:
* Recognised apprenticeship, NVQ3 or equivalent mechanical / industrial qualification
* ONC or equivalent
* Experience in a multi-disciplined industrial engineering function
Desirable:
* Experience of working within an FMCG environment
* HNC or equivalent
* Experience working with Siemens or Allen-Bradley PLC’s
Primary purpose and function of position:
Reporting to the First Line Manager in the Department, the role of a Mechanical Technician is a multi-skilled position. The main purpose of this position is to carry out planned and reactive maintenance in support of a high-speed packaging line, production, or utilities areas. The role is vital for the efficiency, quality, and cost of the plant. A Mechanical Technician will look to improve the reliability and safety of the plant and production processes.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Working for the Packaging Department, you will work in a team consisting of multi-skilled Technicians. You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance support across high-speed lines.
Accountabilities:
* Mechanical maintenance, including:
o Undertake, drive and support maintenance and improvement activities
o Identify CI opportunities
o Developing SOPs and learning documents to share best practice across shifts with respect to maintenance and CIL
o Developing safety and maintenance procedures
o Liaise with suppliers of OEM’s for the provision of spares/services
o Support the development and maintenance of a high-performance, flexible, and “can do” culture
o Carry out planned preventative maintenance
o Machinery fault diagnosis and repairs
o Use of Plant Optimisation tools to ensure sustainability of high departmental standards, Hygiene and PDCA
o Record all maintenance activities within maintenance management system (SAP)
o Maintenance prioritisation and planning
o Analyse machines to improve performance
o Identify critical spares for designated machines
o Refurbish spares as required
o Complete some work at heights, confined space & as a lone worker
o Project work
o Carrying out quality inspections on jobs
o Liaising & assisting client departments and customers
o Controlling maintenance tools, stores, and equipment
o Monitoring and controlling maintenance costs
o Writing, reviewing & updating maintenance SOP’s, OPL’s & job tasks.
o Working in a safe manner following all company policies and procedures
o Ensure all safety systems are in working order
Key skills, knowledge and Competencies:
* Proactive & self-managed engineer who is professional and has a can-do attitude
* Good communication skills and above all take pride in the work they are completing
* On occasions you will be expected to work with external contractors
* Understanding of Continuous Improvements, HACCP and Food Safety protocols.
* Comply with health, safety and hygiene policies and practices at all times and ensure standards are maintained
