An exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist has arisen to contribute to the provision of Occupational Therapy to Sunderland Older People's Community Treatment Team, based at the Wellfield Clinic and Monkwearmouth Hospital in Sunderland.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will work in the community in the homes of older adults with both organic and functional conditions.
The successful therapist will be required to work as an autonomous practitioner, although you will closely work with members of the Occupational Therapy team and multidisciplinary colleagues. We require a highly motivated Occupational Therapist with the ability to work independently and with a commitment to their own personal and professional development. Regular supervision and support will be provided.
Job Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the assessment and management of a caseload of service users who present with a variety of complex Occupational Therapy needs. This will involve working closely with the multidisciplinary team and other agencies as well as providing advice, support, and education for service users, carers, and families. You will contribute to service development and in-service training.
Person Specification
Experience
* Minimum of one year working as a Band 5 Occupational Therapist.
* Proven track record of post-registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
* Experience of collaborative working across agencies and professional disciplines.
* Demonstration and understanding of RCOT standards.
* Evidence of clinical knowledge and skills working with older adults.
* Experience working in a community setting.
* Experience using standardised assessments e.g. AMPS, PRPP, and LACLS.
* Experience using the Model of Human Occupation.
Skills
* Ability to carry out and provide comprehensive written assessments of individuals with complex needs.
* Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
* Effective time and case management skills.
* Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Teaching/Presentation skills.
* Training & Induction of staff.
Role/Team
* Ability to adapt within a changing environment.
* Ability to work under pressure.
