An exciting opportunity exists for a Quantity Surveyor to join our thriving Bristol Branch for works across Gloucestershire, Somerset, South Wales, and Wiltshire.
Job Purpose/Background:
Qualified Quantity Surveyor with a background within construction contracts, refurbishment, or void contract required to manage and control all financial and technical aspects of contracts including procurement, invoicing, and payment to minimise costs & maximise value. The surveyor is fully responsible for the financial performance of the project through to collection of cash.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Measurement, pricing, and evaluation of tenders
2. Take responsibility for projects from inception to completion
3. Identify areas to improve margin
4. Cost management
5. Target creation
6. CVR reporting and forecasting
7. Management and administration of sub-contractor accounts
8. Producing and submitting applications for payment
9. Understand Health & Safety requirements
10. Develop and maintain subcontract and supplier contracts
Knowledge / Experience:
1. Professional Qualification (e.g. HNC/HND/Degree/Diploma) or equivalent
2. Previous experience of construction/retrofit or fabric upgrades is however not essential
3. Previous experience of working with bill of quants, schedules of rates, design, and build contracts etc.
4. Experience with passive fire protection works advantageous
5. Extensive experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors
6. Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting
7. Excellent team player whilst also holding the ability to work independently on own initiative
8. Experienced with direct and subcontract labour
9. Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines
10. Ability to encourage and support other members of the commercial team
11. Strong IT skills, particularly Excel
