Role Summary
The Health & Safety and Facilities Manager will lead the day-to-day delivery of health and safety, and facility management services. This includes ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, overseeing maintenance programs, managing contractors, and driving cost-saving initiatives. As this is a national role covering multiple locations, regular travel will be required but we have offices in Essex, Egham and Manchester for a base.

Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety (HSE) Compliance & Risk Management
* Conduct risk assessments, implement practical solutions, and oversee HSE compliance across all sites.
* Produce and maintain all relevant HSE documentation.
* Advise branch managers and department heads on workplace HSE complaints and accident investigations, ensuring root causes are addressed.
* Maintain accurate HSE records of risk assessments, accidents/incidents, competency authorisations, and work equipment compliance.
* Manage HSE enquiries, ensuring timely responses and appropriate escalation where necessary.
* Organise and oversee HSE training to all XPand staff, including fire safety, first aid, and COSHH compliance.
* Lead fire safety initiatives, ensuring all procedures and evacuation plans are up to date.
Facilities & Contractor Management
* Oversee and manage contracts for essential services, including cleaning, waste disposal, and fire safety equipment.
* Act as the responsible person for contractor and facilities management sub-contractors, ensuring robust performance monitoring regimes are in place.
* Lead office and facilities management, ensuring a high standard of daily operations.
* Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules.
* Ensure all statutory maintenance is completed on time to maintain legal compliance.
* Maintain compliance records and ensure relevant stakeholders can access certifications and reports.
* Document and address key risk areas for legal compliance.
* Manage a dedicated facilities budget in collaboration with the commercial team.
Sustainability Initiatives
* Monitor and report on sustainability metrics, ensuring alignment with company goals.
* Implement initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of facilities operations.
* Promote awareness and engagement in sustainability practices among staff, suppliers and customers
* Desirable: Knowledge of sustainability and ESG principles, with experience in implementing sustainability initiatives.
General Responsibilities
* Take the lead in arranging high-profile meetings, visits, and delivering site tours.
* Arrange and track mandatory Health & Safety training for relevant employees.
* Ensure all HSE documentation is regularly updated and maintained.
Person Specification:
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
* IOSH Level 6 Diploma in OSH Leadership & Management.
* Relevant Health & Safety qualification (IOSH / NEBOSH).
* Training in COSHH, Asbestos, Legionella, and First Aid.
* Fire Marshal or equivalent certification.
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a managerial role within facilities management in a corporate setting.
* Proven track record in contractor management across multi-site commercial properties.
* Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety laws and statutory building regulations.
