Job Title: Operations Manager

Salary: £35,000 per annum (pro-rata if part time)
Job Overview:
Wheathampstead Chapel Community Hub, a charitable organisation that operates both a gym and a church hall, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient management of our facilities and staff. The Operations Manager will be responsible for a range of administrative and operational tasks, including staff management, facility bookings, and bookkeeping.
Key Responsibilities:
* Staff Management: Organise and manage the rotas of five part-time staff members, ensuring effective staffing to meet operational demands.
* Optimise use of facilities: Oversee the booking and usage of the gym and church hall, ensuring optimal utilisation and client satisfaction. Organise a schedule of classes in the Chapel Halls to meet the needs of the target market.
* Facility Management: Ensure the premises (including grounds) are well maintained.
* Financial Oversight: Handle all financial accounts associated with the hub's operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, and general fiscal management.
* Marketing and Social Media: Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the hub's services.
* Understand Customer Needs and Satisfaction: Actively seek customer feedback, manage complaints (gym members, hall hirers, and users), and plan ways to respond when appropriate.
* Strategic Execution: Collaborate with the trustees to align operational activities with the strategic goals of the hub and to deliver on agreed objectives.
* Leadership and Development: Provide leadership, performance management, development opportunities, and support to staff and volunteers, fostering a positive work environment and encouraging professional growth.
* Health & Safety and Organisational Compliance: Ensure all appropriate Mentor training is completed by all staff and volunteers. Contribute to the drafting and review of policies if requested.
Required Qualifications:
* Proven experience in a managerial or administrative role, ideally within a similar setting.
Desired Skills:
* Proficiency in software applications relevant to financial management, scheduling, and operational tasks, and the ability to become proficient in the software used for the Hub’s activities such as ClubRight, HallMaster, and various operational apps to control heating, etc.
* Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
* Excellent communication skills, with the capability to engage effectively with staff, trustees, and the community.
* Proven management experience, with a track record of motivating and leading teams.
* Ability to work collaboratively (and as an active team member) with a range of stakeholders, including trustees, to implement strategic objectives.
* Actively use own initiative to help the charity excel within the agreed parameters of the role and make well thought through recommendations where outside own authority.
* Resilience and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the community and the organisation.
* Network with fitness professionals to supplement own knowledge and ensure the Chapel Hub is leading in expertise within the fitness industry.
Reporting Structure:
* The Operations Manager will report directly to a trustee who will act as the line manager.
* Direct management of five part-time staff members.
Working Hours:
* 10-15 hours per week, flexibility required to meet the needs of the organisation.
