About the Role
Good Growth is responsible for delivering and implementing the Mayor's environment, transport and economic strategies and for the effective implementation of the London Plan. The Directorate is also responsible for regeneration (where the programme is not housing led), enterprise, growth, capital projects and design work.
About the Team
The Programme Management and Coordination Team sits at the centre of the Environment and Energy Unit.
As well as managing the functional operations of the unit - finance, programme management, supporting the Assistant Director - we manage the communications and correspondence for our suite of environmental programmes and policies, ensuring we deliver on the Mayor's 'greener' priorities for London.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Strategic Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Manager to shape how Londoners and key stakeholders engage with the Mayor's ambitious agenda for a fairer, greener city. This central role within the Environment and Energy Unit will develop and deliver a strategic stakeholder engagement and communications plan across a wide range of environmental policy areas.
Working within a complex network of stakeholders - including government bodies, businesses, NGOs, and community groups - you will ensure that policies resonate with and inspire Londoners.
The role works closely with all of our Environment and Energy policy Heads and the Deputy Mayor, as well as senior colleagues in Communications, Engagement, and Press across the GLA. You will also work with Mayoral teams to coordinate a strategic engagement and communications package for our work under the Mayor's commitment to a greener London for all, create a cohesive stakeholder engagement approach, and line manage the Communications Manager.
What Your Day Will Look Like
* Working with Heads of Policy to understand stakeholder engagement and communication needs, using this insight to develop and implement a strategy.
* Liaising with the Deputy Mayor of London for Environment and Energy and the Senior Adviser on strategic engagement and communications approaches.
* Collaborating with senior colleagues across key departments, including Communications, Marketing, External Relations, and the Mayor's Office.
* Attending key stakeholder meetings (internal and external).
* Developing narratives and cohesive storytelling with the Communications Manager.
* Line Management of the Communications Manager.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria:
* In-depth knowledge and experience of strategic communications in a large, high-profile organisation regularly in the media eye.
* Significant experience of developing and implementing strategic stakeholder and community engagement strategies and plans in a high-profile organisation.
* A deep understanding of complex political environments and significant experience at a high level of operating effectively within them.
* Ability to demonstrate a high level of analytical and constructive thinking to cope with the varied and challenging situations required by the role.
* An understanding of how the GLA's wish to take a strategic lead in combating discrimination and promoting equality of opportunity throughout London can be enhanced and supported by this role.

GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.
