We are a busy practice with a variety of roles to ensure care is provided for our patients. The applicant will need to have a polite and caring manner with good customer care skills.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team.
Duties can include, but are not limited to:
* Greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, the processing of information and assisting patients as required.
* To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of secretarial and administrative duties and the provision of administrative support.
* To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multi-disciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

Course contents
* Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation in order to: write letters or emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyse data. Examples include MS Office or equivalent packages.
* Produces accurate records and documents including: emails, letters, files, payments, reports and proposals. Makes recommendations for improvements and presents solutions to management.
* Exercises proactivity and good judgement. Makes effective decisions based on sound reasoning.
* Builds and maintains positive relationships within their own team and across the organisation.
* Demonstrates good communication skills, whether face-to-face, on the telephone, in writing or on digital platforms.
* Completes tasks to a high standard and applies problem-solving skills to resolve challenging or complex complaints.
* Takes responsibility for initiating and completing tasks, manages priorities and time in order to successfully meet deadlines.
* Uses relevant project management principles and tools to scope, plan, monitor and report.
Your training plan
Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:
* Where a business administrator has not already achieved Level 2 English and maths, they must do so before taking the end-point assessment.

GCSE or equivalent in:
* English (grade D/3 or above)
* Maths (grade D/3 or above)

We offer NHS primary care services in a purpose-built multi-occupancy GP practice based in the centre of Dudley with approximately 8500 patients.

* Varied positions within the GP surgery, reception and admin, computer skills and medical terminology to progress to medical secretary.
