Processes and procedures related to the movement and shipment of GE goods across borders. Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness, etc.).
Job Description
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oversight of Customs Compliance processes for the Largest Aircraft Engine Service Facility within a global business.
2. Ownership of maintaining and running audit process of AEO and IP Authorisations.
3. Management of import and export processes within the site for a Global Supply Chain, identifying areas of risk to the business, including investigation of compliance defects and leading corrective actions to closure.
4. Manage direct reports and maintain internal team processes and ongoing training.
5. Providing a central contact/advice point for internal customers, suppliers/partners, and sharing information to enable others to fulfil their role and build their understanding of customs targets and objectives.
6. Deal with and adapt to a variable, complex, and regularly changing customs environment, and the processes within Brokerage, Forwarding, and Courier services to manage this.
7. Manage the classification and valuation of goods process to ensure accurate and consistent customs declarations in line with HMRC and global policies.
8. Understand and manage VAT and duty import costs, working closely with the Global VAT leader.
9. Provide technical customs advice and guidance to Programme teams to ensure compliance with internal corporate policies and procedures.
10. Oversee Monitoring of customs entries to ensure freight agents have imported/exported goods correctly, and request amendments where required.
11. Process internal reports and ensure record keeping requirements are completed compliantly and in line with HMRC regulations.
12. Support and lead internal training needs to ensure processes and work instructions are followed.
13. Maintain knowledge of and stay current on regulatory changes and solid understanding of required documentation such as commercial invoices.
14. Represent the company in discussions with local customs authorities and manage any customs audits, ensuring accurate and timely data is provided where required.
15. Work with Customs and Transport organisation to execute global trade compliance policies and strategies.
16. Continuously update and refresh working technical knowledge of the ever-changing customs landscape.
17. Communicating and leading any changes in regulations and their implications to the relevant stakeholders.
18. Reviewing and updating internal policies and SOPs in line with new and changing regulations.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Experience in Customs focused role.
2. High level of attention to detail.
3. Strong analytical skills.
4. Strong computer literacy skills, with ongoing experience of windows-based packages.
5. Possess a strong understanding of HM Customs & Excise IPR, End Use, and Community Control procedures.
6. A strong understanding of AEO/IP or other authorisation and auditing processes.
7. Bachelor's Degree / relevant diploma holder desirable.
8. Possess excellent communication skills.
9. Possess an innovative, logical, and creative approach to resolving issues and process improvements.
10. Must be an effective team player with the ability to motivate others.
11. Must be a good negotiator.
12. Must be adaptable to change.
13. Understanding of technical issues such as Airworthiness Directives (AD's) and transport quality/compliance standards.
14. Have experience and communication skills to deal with a large cross-section of the business.
15. Have professional attributes to deal with customers, contractors, and auditors face-to-face.
