Job Description:
The individual in this position will join the Engineering Services Broadcast Systems team in an exciting, fast-paced environment, deploying and supporting DEE-T infrastructure at live remote events globally, onsite and remotely. Along with live event responsibilities, this individual will be involved with operational tasks assigned primarily in our Bristol, CT offices when not on remote.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:
* Perform logistical needs for remote events; build, ship, receive systems to and from site.
* High expectation of travel to support live remote events.
* Pre-event planning, setup, support, and breakdown of DEE-T infrastructure at assigned events.
* Respond to and resolve issues that affect show production while onsite including system outages, malfunctions, and related technical problems; conduct diagnostic testing, repair, and replacement activities necessary to solve routine, specialized, and complex problems.
* Coordinate and/or perform upgrades to system hardware and software; coordinate the activities of technicians involved in the deployment and configuration of the systems, and with vendors on moves, additions, and relocations of systems or equipment.
* When required, perform preventative maintenance on all Broadcast Systems equipment and systems, such as on-air graphics machines, DEE-T supported clients, workstations & servers, Control Room, and Studio equipment, etc., to ensure optimum broadcast performance in the facility.
* Develop and implement effective preventative maintenance and diagnostic/solutions techniques and procedures.
* Any other duties needed to help achieve Business Objectives.
Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:
Required:
* Minimum of 3 years of previous and relevant experience in Broadcast Engineering/Information Technology, and working in live production environments.
* B.S. from an accredited institution in a discipline related to Computer Science and Broadcast Engineering.
* Understanding of LAN/WAN technologies.
* Understanding of Windows-based PCs and Servers.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Excellent problem-solving skills.
* Ability to effectively prioritize and deliver on multiple initiatives simultaneously.
* Physical requirements and work environment: high travel expectation, ability to lift 50 lbs., ability to work in close quarters, e.g., active Production Trucks, Control Rooms, Studio spaces, etc.
* High School Diploma.
Preferred:
* Extensive knowledge of television production hardware, software, systems and specifications, TCP/IP protocols on servers and workstations, systems management, and server administration.
* Working experience with DHCP, DNS, SNMP, IP protocols, Wireshark.
* Linux administration experience; RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.
