Main objective of the role:
The main objective of the role is to be a key member of the Property Litigation team, providing a first-class service to our clients on a range of matters. Clients include real estate developers, investors, landlords and tenants. The team involves all fee earners in client relationship building and business development.
Key responsibilities include:
This role will involve a range of commercial and residential litigation matters. You will find yourself involved with running your own caseload (under supervision), such as:
* Assisting in considering client instructions and liaising with clients and experts to obtain further information to progress the case;
* Obtaining title information from the Land Registry and analysing the documentation to advise clients;
* Drafting and serving contractual and statutory notices;
* Assisting in drafting pleadings and supporting witness statements in support of applications;
* Assisting with disputes concerning property contracts, property insolvency, residential landlord and tenant, rights of way, adverse possession, restrictive covenants;
* Conducting legal research;
* Preparing cost budgets and disclosure lists;
* Preparing bundles for hearings and trials;
* Recording all chargeable time;
* Liaising with the courts in relation to hearings and liaising with Counsel and Counsel’s clerk and when required, instructing Counsel and attending Court to support Counsel where appropriate; and
* Involvement in business development activities, including preparing literature and attendance at events.
Hours:
The working hours for this role are from 9.30am-5.30pm Monday to Friday, with flexibility required outside those times to meet client demands and workload. We are working in a hybrid working model with a minimum of 3 days required in the office.
Ideal candidate:
Our ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:
* Be a proactive, self-motivated and reliable individual;
* Strong academic background (a 2:1 degree or equivalent from a reputable university);
* NQ - 3 years’ experience in property litigation within private practice;
* First rate drafting skills;
* Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing;
* Strong organisation and administration skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively;
* A friendly and personable approach with colleagues and clients;
* A proactive and growth mindset towards achieving goals;
* Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and an ability to pick up new systems quickly.
