Job Title: Desktop Engineer Location: Coventry 5 days a week Salary/Rate: £140 per day Start Date: 6/01/2025 Job Type: Contract Company Introduction We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading sports and retail clients They are currently looking for a skilled Desktop Engineer to join their team on a rolling six-month contract. Job Responsibilities/Objectives You will be responsible for providing on-site technical support and ensuring all desktop systems and hardware operate efficiently. Key responsibilities include: 1. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with desktop systems, including PCs, laptops, monitors, printers, and peripheral devices. 2. Perform board-level swap-outs for faulty hardware components. 3. Set up, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, and hardware peripherals. 4. Collaborate with other IT teams to support and manage IT infrastructure effectively. 5. Ensure all incidents and issues are logged and resolved within agreed SLA times. 6. Provide technical assistance to end-users both in person and remotely. Required Skills/Experience The ideal candidate will have the following: 1. Proven experience in desktop engineering, technical support, or IT troubleshooting. 2. Strong knowledge of desktop hardware and operating systems, including Windows (MacOS and Linux are a plus). 3. Hands-on experience with board-level repairs and hardware fault-finding. 4. Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical users. Desirable Skills/Experience Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client: 1. Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A, Microsoft Certified). 2. Experience working in a large-scale corporate environment or sports-related organisation. 3. Familiarity with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira. 4. Knowledge of networking basics and IT infrastructure.
