Job overview
This is a joint working agreement between GMMH and Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust. The HOPE(S) model is a relentlessly positive and human rights based approach to working with people who have been subject to long term segregation and other restrictive practices. The clinical model was developed by Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust. Practitioners provide relational care, training, practice leadership and skilled clinical intervention to deliver alternative approaches to restrictive practices and improve the quality of life and personal outcomes for people in services and the staff supporting them.
Here in GMMH we are on an improvement journey to reduce our use of seclusion and segregation as well as drive down the use of all restrictive practices and embrace a human rights based approach to care. The roles will have a key role in driving these practice changes and embedding ways of working.
Main duties of the job
Post 1 : Adult Forensic Services. The postholder will work into Lowry Low Secure Unit and Edenfield Medium Secure Unit. You will agree your caseload with the care group clinical leadership team. You will be line managed by the Associate Director of Nursing and Quality.
Post 2 : Corporate Professions and Quality Directorate. The postholder will agree their clinical portfolio aligned to key drivers within the inpatient services for GMMH. This enables a wide scope of practice including adult inpatient wards, PICU, CAMHS services and specialist inpatient provision. You will be line managed by the Deputy Chief Nurse.
Both posts attract the support of a Human Rights Officer which are to be advertised very shortly. Together you will be a strong professional partnership aligned to existing GMMH clinical and professional leadership who will drive our intentions to eliminate segregation in our services and reduce both the use of and duration of seclusion.
Now is the time to join GMMH on its improvement journey, we are currently rated inadequate but investment in our services, clinicians and key roles will make a difference to our service users and carers.
These posts may be of interest to aspiring HOPE(S) practitioners, we will consider aspirant practitioners and training will be provided by Mersey Care national HOPE(S) team, however the post would reach the criteria of a HOPE(S) practitioner 8B during the training period and be reviewed after 12 months.
