Band 4 Haematology/Transfusion Associate Practitioner
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to join our friendly support team in the Haematology/Transfusion Department at the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and Burnley General Teaching Hospital.
The duties are to perform technical and scientific processes within the Haematology/Transfusion discipline to support the BMS staff. This involves: receipt/recording of samples (blood transfusion), performing sample analysis by utilising the departments automated analysers, troubleshooting and maintenance of analysis, running quality controls processes, supporting the BMS staff to aid the diagnosis of haematological disorders and transfusion related complications, while following the department's written procedures (SOP's).

About us
Full training will be provided, but any previous laboratory experience will be an advantage.
The post is full time (37.5h/w) and a flexible working approach will be required. The successful candidates will be required to work to a roster pattern which includes a mixture of days, evenings, nights, weekends, and Bank Holidays.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Foundation degree in Healthcare Science or equivalent (IBMS Certificate of achievement part 2)
Experience
* Experience of working in a pathology department
* Experience of working in a Haematology/Transfusion, or Blood Sciences department
Knowledge and Skills
* Able to handle patient information confidentially
* Able to work accurately with prolonged concentration
* Able to follow protocols and health and safety procedures
* Knowledge of routine Microbiology practices
* Knowledge of lean systems and tools

* Able to use own initiative
* Able to work as part of a team
* Organised
* Able to multitask
