Role purposeProvide advice and guidance in Property matters to the Homebuy and Property Compliance teams to contribute to the delivery of the council’s objectives and priorities. To lead by example in modelling and embedding the council’s values and behaviours, working collaboratively with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders to help build a sustainable highly effective organisation and develop our reputation as a successful council delivering great value for its residents.Responsibilities Prepare legal documents and provide legal advice to clients in the following areas namely Right to Buy, Lease extensions, Collective enfranchisement, Licence for alterations, Discount Market Sale and Private Sector Leasing and routine acquisitions of landTo deal with the creation and discharge of mortgagesUndertake any of the responsibilities within this Job Description for another council or other body which the Council has agreed to provide such a service to.Undertake any other duties and requirements appropriate to the grading of the post.Evidence of assisting lawyers in the team with investigations of title to properties and first registration of title.RequirementsLaw degree or equivalentKnowledge of some of the areas listed above and a willingness to develop knowledge and expertise in all areas.Experience of working in a council or housing association is essential to be considered. Knowledge of Local Government law or equivalent knowledge. Willingness to develop knowledge and experience in Planning, Highways or Licensing. Contract Initial 6 month ongoing contract with the opportunity to extend PAYE via Umbrella Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (One day a week in the office)Must have previous local authority experience
