The Role
:
As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will lead their therapy team and contribute to the development of adult services.
Duties:
1. Lead and support the multi-disciplinary therapy team in adult services.
2. Manage day-to-day team operations including performance management and supervision.
3. Collaborate with service managers to monitor performance and implement new initiatives.
4. Deliver specialist assessments and interventions for service users with complex needs.
5. Chair routine meetings and support visits from parents and external agencies.
6. Provide training and advice to carers, support staff, and other professionals.
7. Supervise and mentor less experienced therapists and support workers.
8. Initiate and conduct best practice projects and action research.
Requirements:
9. Previously worked as a Speech and language therapist or in a similar role.
10. Experience in speech and language therapy at Band 6 level or higher.
11. Qualified SLT status and HCPC registration.
12. Knowledge of current legislation and safeguarding practices.
13. Experience supervising staff and therapy students.
14. Understanding of risk assessment processes.
15. Familiarity with the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
16. Commitment to professional development and maintaining a CPD portfolio.
