KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
1. To develop positive working relationships and build trust with young people.
2. To work with young people within the school and community,
3. To advocate on behalf of young people where necessary
4. To develop links between organisations and develop local knowledge of youth provision for sharing across those organisations
5. To work with the youth work team on specific individual and group work interventions in collaboration with all other disciplines supporting young people.
6. Be comfortable working in communities using a community-based learning approach
7. To consider the poverty context and possible negative outcomes for young people and their families in the community.
8. To engage with young people ensuring that they are aware of existing opportunities in the community; by engaging with the local community to identify third sector groups and individuals who could contribute to a variety of opportunities for young people i.e. volunteering
9. To support the YDO, develop and deliver alternative curricular activities, quality learning opportunities and activities
10. To take up relevant training to support and deliver opportunities for young people in developing skills such as interpersonal, team working, leadership, in order to improve confidence and self- esteem.
11. To be part of a Detached Youth Work team who engage with young people in their space within street settings, build trust and develop positive working relationships with them respecting their choices
12. To listen to young people and gather appropriate information and interests from them which would be beneficial in promoting their progression to more positive activities and opportunities
