Deputy Overseas Visitors Manager, Band 5 - 37.5hrs per week - Cumberland Infirmary
The North Cumbria Integrated Care Overseas Team is in charge of identifying and charging overseas visitors who do not qualify for free NHS care under Department of Health regulations. An opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Overseas Visitors Manager to join our small team. The team provides comprehensive, effective, and confidential support to all patients in the Trust.
The post holder will oversee all correspondence, processing, and filing for overseas visitor patient casework, as well as ensuring accurate data recording to ensure the correct charging of all overseas patient activity in this varied and interesting role.
Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities for the role are:
* To implement the NHS Charging Regulations which cover the management of overseas visitors treated at this Trust as well as procedures relating to overseas visitors' income. You will ensure developments are in line with current and new legislation.
* To provide patients and staff with knowledge and guidance regarding overseas visitors' regulations.
* The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all overseas visitors attending the hospital are identified, as well as identifying overseas visitors who are not eligible for free NHS treatment.
* The post holder will supervise a small team of staff and will be accountable for accurately recording, costing, and billing all overseas patient activity. This includes producing invoices for all overseas visitors' patients and being aware of various charging tariffs to maximise the Trust's income from overseas patients.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience gained in a relevant discipline
* Overseas Visitors training
Experience
* Experience of dealing with a variety of people at different levels in a customer focused environment
* Conversant with all aspects of DHSC guidelines on overseas visitors
* Experience of working in an Overseas Visitors or Private patient team
* Experience of working with patients to deliver patient-focused approaches to people from diverse backgrounds.
* Experience of handling confidential data
* Experience of developing presentations and training
* NHS experience including experience of hospital / patient processes
* Use of hospital administration systems
* Experience of staff management and appraisals
Knowledge
* Demonstratable knowledge of Department of Health regulations and guidance relating to visitors fees and treatment regulations
* Judgements involving complex facts or situations, which require the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options.
* Knowledge of UK law on overseas visitors
Skills and Aptitudes
* High level of analytical and judgement skills with the ability to analyse, assess and understand highly complex information.
* Excellent diplomacy skills and sympathetic approach to patients and visitors.
* Ability to communicate and liaise with a wide range of professionals at different levels within the organisation
* Responsible for policy and strategy implementation and for discrete policy or service development for a service or more than one area of activity.
* Ability to deal with overseas visitors who do not qualify for free NHS care and where necessary pursue payments for the use of services.
