We are seeking an Engineering Technician to join our food manufacturing team, reporting to the Engineering Team Leader. This
position plays a vital role in supporting the efficient operation of our production equipment and processes. The Engineering
Technician will work closely with the team to maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance machinery performance, ensuring minimal downtime
and helping to meet production targets.
The role is key to upholding high production standards, reducing downtime, and contributing to the overall success and smooth
operation of our manufacturing processes.
Location: Poole
Hours: 5:15am - 5:15pm / 5:15pm - 5:15am (2 weeks days, 2 weeks nights - 3 on 3 off shift pattern)
Salary: £50,350 per annum
General Responsibilities and Expectations:
Safety, Health & Environment:
Ensure all engineering work carried out in ALL areas, meets the standards set out in the SHE policy and under the guidance of the
Engineering Policy
Report any deviation to Policies AND raise any potential risks via the SHE Escalation Process
Make use of the Take Two system to dynamically Risk Assess all activities PRIOR to starting the task
Make use of the Permit to Work and RAMS systems for any high-risk activity onsite
Follow site contractor control procedure, for the management of contractors, which will include:
* Meet and greet
* Diary checks
* Permits to work, risk assessments and method statements
* GMP in line with company policy
* Sign off completed work
* Escort off site (where applicable)
Quality and Food Safety:
* Ensure all engineering work carried out in the production areas meets the requirements of the Quality and Food Safety policies
and procedures.
* Complete Engineering Hand back Documents for ALL intervention work as identified within the Engineering Policy
* Ensures engineering workshops are maintained and audited on a regular basis and kept in a clean and auditable state.
Production and Processing:
Demonstrate knowledge of:
* Raw materials
* Production processes
* Equipment operation
* Manufacturing costs
* QC processes and procedures
* Other manufacturing techniques
Maintenance System:
Operate and maintain a concise computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) for production and site services that will
include:
* Asset register
* Asset history
* Safety risk assessment
* Machine settings
* Critical parts list
* Condition monitoring, autonomous, preventative and predictive maintenance routines
* Completed work orders
* Standard work
* Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) – Creation and Completion of.
* Concise Handover Documentation to be supported with clear communication face to face.
Reactive Maintenance
When issues arise in the production process or on a production line, ensure that the company escalation procedure is followed. It
is expected that you will support other members of the Engineering team out of office hours, with logical decision making on
Engineering issues, when required.
Work Orders
Every Task, however small MUST have a work order raised. This is to ensure that we capture all work carried out by the department.
Engineering Drawings and Literature:
* Follow complex electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical assembly drawings to ensure the prompt identification of
production equipment faults
* Identify and Alter drawings where difference or changes have been made – hand drawn alterations are acceptable but MUST be
countersigned by the Head of Engineering
* Keep records of drawings and version numbers to ensure the latest versions are being always used
