Job summary
To work with delegated service users who remain the responsibility of the Registered Physiotherapist, often working without direct supervision in an inpatient setting.
To provide physiotherapy support to service users who have a range of mental health conditions and/ or learning disabilities.
To engage service users and their carers in therapeutic programmes of care and encourages them in a compassionate manner, to support them in achieving their identified goals to promote independence and well-being.
To provide the best possible experience for service users and carers.
To show commitment to and participate in quality improvement activities.
To promote at al times a positive image of people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities/ Clinical Responsibilities patient contact
Works with Registered Physiotherapists, preparing or helping service users to prepare for treatment and assisting in delivering therapeutic interventions designed by others.
Works with delegated service users who remain the responsibility of the Registered Physiotherapist, reporting back in a timely and appropriate manner. Service users may demonstrate behaviours that challenge or have difficult family situations of relevance.
Delivers therapeutic interventions, designed by registered staff, to groups or individuals, observing and monitoring service user progress and making adjustments to interventions (within established protocols).
Encourages service users/carers in a compassionate manner, to actively participate in their own therapy to support them in achieving their identified goals.
Provides information and practical advice, within scope of own competency, to service users and carers. demonstrating exercise programmes for them to follow.
Participates in health promotion activities.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
1. Relevant NVQ Level 3 in care or equivalent (or willingness to undertake within agreed timescale)
2. Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 or equivalent
Experience

3. Experience of paid or voluntary work with people with mental health conditions or learning disabilities
Desirable
4. Experience working alongside physiotherapists
